following research personnel (Indian Nationals only) on purely temporary basis.

Project Title:
MITIGATION OF BIRD/WILDLIFE HAZARDS
TO AIRCRAFT IN SELECT CIVIL AIRPORTS OF INDIA [PIs – Dr. P.

Dr. P.V. Karunakaran]
1(a). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I

Year
Essential Qualification: Post-graduate degree
(M.Sc.) with a minimum of 55% marks
in life sciences or environmental sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Biology/Wildlife Science/ Conservation Biology/Biodiversity Studies/Forestry/Ecological
Sciences/Environmental Studies or any other allied disciplines) from a
recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications: i) Experience and competence in identification
of wild birds and mammals; ii) excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
and iii) proficiency in English and Hindi

Upper Age Limit as on 20-January-2025: 35 Years
Fellowship: Rs. 31,000 + HRA (as per DST-SERB
rules)
Description of Work: The Project Associate will i) conduct intensive round-the-clock
field work to collect data on bird hazards to aircraft in the airport precincts
and the surrounding 10 km area, ii) interact with airport authorities and field
staff, iii) execute the field level data collection and project activities, and
iv) assist Project Investigators in data analysis, report writing, and other
institutional activities.

CONSERVING THE OVERLOOKED SUBTERRANEAN
CAVE HABITAT: A SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH [PIs – Dr. Manchi Shirish S. & Dr. Jaishri

2(a). PROJECT ASSOCIATE-I (Geology)

Years
Essential Qualification: Post-graduate degree
with a minimum of 55% marks
in geology, earth sciences, geomorphology, environmental geography,
geosciences, environmental sciences, or any other allied disciplines from a
recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications: i) Keen interest in cave and karst
explorations in remote locations; ii) skill in identification and
characterization of geomorphological features and rock formations; iii)
familiarity with geochemistry including soil and water chemistry and related
analytical techniques; iv) proficiency in cave exploration and mapping, GIS
tools, SRT technique, free climbing, and rock climbing; and v) proficiency in
Hindi (speaking, reading, and writing).

Description of Work: The Project Associate will i) conduct
geomorphological and geochemical studies in remote caves, ii) collect and
analyze data on cave and karst ecosystems, iii) work closely with the forest
department and local communities to develop sustainable conservation/management
plans, and iv) assist Project Investigators in achieving project goals and
other institutional activities.

Only the shortlisted candidates will be invited
for the Online Interview through which the final
selection of candidates will be made. Details of the Interview, including the
exact date, time and online link, will be individually intimated to the
shortlisted candidates by email.
If selected, all original documents in support of qualifications, age, experience etc. should be produced by the candidate for
verification before joining SACON. The hard copies of the filled-in application form along with self-attested true
copies of all supporting documents should
also be submitted at the time of joining.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
Candidates applying for the above positions should possess all the Essential Qualifications (with originals of supporting
documents) as on the date of application deadline.
A
candidate can apply for a maximum of two positions only.
Candidates applying for two positions should submit SEPARATE sets of applications and attachments.
The upper age limit may be relaxed as per
the Government of India norms [up to 5
years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Physically
Handicapped categories and female applicants, whereas up to 3 years in the case
of OBC candidates].
Selected candidates will be provided with hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and
benefits to the research personnel will be admissible as per the rules.
Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
Incomplete applications and
applications submitted after the stipulated deadline will not be considered.
Applications not received in the prescribed format and/or without supporting
documents for essential qualifications/experience are also
liable for rejection.
